Job Summary

The Senior Vehicle Integration & Test Engineer will serve as technical principal and team leader in the configuration, integration & factory test of the Vector-R launch vehicle propulsion systems. Responsibilities range from subsystem configuration definition, integration trades, analyses, detailed design, assembly integration and manufacturing process development, and subsystem-through-vehicle level design verification and functional testing of all propulsion system elements.

Essential Functions

  • Lead configuration trades studies and analyses with other disciplines to ensure vehicle integration and functional requirements are satisfied
  • Design and develop tools and hardware to enable vehicle assembly and ensure vehicle testing abilities
  • Develop full testing campaigns ensuring vehicle integrity of propulsion systems
  • Define and enhance vehicle integration build flow and test concept of operations
  • Evaluate proposed designs for manufacturability and integration into subsystems
  • Interface with manufacturing engineers and technicians to improve manufacturability and automation
  • Develop and refine manufacturing assembly procedures based on lessons learned to mature status
  • Responsible for enabling day-to-day execution of the vehicle integration and test flow
  • Direct, train, coach and evaluate work products of junior engineers.
  • Manage work orders and driving nonconformances into actionable items and system improvements
  • Work closely with Systems Engineering, Structures, Mechanical and other vehicle systems to achieve successful integration of finished products
  • Work through building the propulsion system and break the build into manageable, clearly defined steps



  • B.S./M.S. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience with design, integration and test of propulsion systems and subsystems, particularly those operating with cryogenic fluids and high pressures
  • Experience with hands-on development and verification testing of prototype hardware
  • Experience in aerospace industry best practices for cryogenic handling, storage and equipment operation
  • Demonstrated ability in System Test Bed and/or system I&T environment.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes and generating assembly flow diagrams
  • Experience with Product Development Management (PDM) tools and best practices to enable efficient review, release execution and management of design and products
  • Experience with aerospace qualification testing a plus
  • Independent judgment in the planning, execution and evaluation of proposed designs
  • Demonstrated skills leading large multi-disciplinary, multi-organizational teams.
  • Ability to react to frequent changes in plans and excel in a rapid pace concurrent engineering environment.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing a plus
  • Extremely detail oriented; willing to take on new challenges and work independently
  • Excellent verbal, written and graphical communications skills

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Education: B.S./M.S. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related education

Experience (Years): 7+ years experience in automotive or aerospace

Experience (Technical): Integration & test of launch vehicle propulsion systems

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, CAD (SolidWorks or NX preferred), FEA (NASTRAN, ANSYS)

Travel: less than 10% (to test sites during launch campaigns)

Citizenship: U.S. Person or authorized Green Card holder
