Vector is looking for a Propulsion Development Engineer to support development of the Vector launch vehicles.

Description

The Senior Propulsion Design Engineer will serve as technical principal and team leader in the product realization and integration of liquid propulsion systems for the Vector-R launch vehicle. Responsibilities range from component preliminary and detailed design, performance analyses, materials selection and manufacturing process definition, and component testing, and support for systems integration & test.

Qualifications

  • * B.S./M.S.. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

    * Experience with design of hardware compatible with cryogenic fluids and high pressures

    * Experience with hands-on development and verification testing of prototype hardware

    * Experience with additive manufacturing (3D printing) of metallic alloys and other advanced materials

    * Extremely methodical and process-oriented in the development of high-performance machinery

    * Experience in general dimensions & tolerances (GD&T) practices for high-pressure and industrial equipment

    * Experience with manufacturing processes and generating manufacturing drawings; demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFMA) and Design to Cost (DTC) are desirable

    * Experience with Product Development Management (PDM) tools and best practices to enable efficient review, release execution and management of design and products

    * Experience with aerospace qualification testing a plus

    * Independent judgment in the planning, execution and evaluation of proposed designs

    * Strong analytical skills in mechanical design, stress analyses and materials selection

    * Excellent verbal, written and graphical communications skills

    * Generate system specification, design and manufacturing documentation necessary for the successful review, execution and evaluation of realizable products.

    * Work closely with Systems Engineering, Structures, Mechanical and other vehicle systems to achieve successful integration of finished products.

    * Must be willing and able to handle concurrent tasks requiring various sets of skills at multiple stages of the product development cycle

    * Work through complex development objectives, divide them into manageable, clearly defined steps, and communicate them effectively to junior design staff.

    * Direct, train, coach and evaluate work products of junior engineers

    Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

    Education: M.S. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related education

    Certification/License: __N/A_______________

    Experience (Years): 10+ years experience in industrial, automotive or aerospace (5+ years with Ph.D.)

    Experience (Technical): Design and manufacture of cryogenic aerospace or turbomachinery systems
