Vector is looking for a Propulsion Development Engineer to support development of the Vector launch vehicles.

Description

The Senior Propulsion Development Engineer will serve as technical principal and team leader in the development of advanced liquid propulsion systems for the Vector-R launch vehicle. Responsibilities range from conceptual design to detailed design, analysis, manufacturing process definition, integration and test of subsystems and systems.

Qualifications

  • * M.S/Ph.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

    * Experience designing advanced heat transfer, high-pressure or turbomachinery systems

    * Experience with cryogenic systems a plus

    * Experience with hands-on development and verification testing of prototype hardware

    * Experience in heater transfer modeling, simulation and analysis

    * Experience with manufacturing processes and generating manufacturing drawings

    * Experience with additive manufacturing a plus

    * Experience with aerospace qualification testing a plus

    * Extremely detail oriented; willing to take on new challenges and work independently

    * Strong analytical skills especially with fluid mechanics

    * Excellent verbal, written and graphical communications skills

    * Must be willing and able to handle concurrent tasks requiring various sets of skills at multiple stages of the product development cycle

    * Work through building the propulsion system and break the build into manageable, clearly defined steps.

    * Generate system specification, design and manufacturing documentation necessary for the successful review, execution and evaluation of realizable products.

    * Work closely with Systems Engineering, Structures, Mechanical and other vehicle systems to achieve successful integration of finished products.

    * Direct, train, coach and evaluate work products of junior engineers.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Education: M.S. Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related education

Experience (Years): 10+ years experience in automotive or aerospace (5+ years with Ph.D.)

Experience (Technical): Development of high performance heat transfer or turbomachinery systems

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, C++ or related programming lanaguages.

Travel: less than 10%

Citizenship: U.S. Person or Authorized Green Card Holder
