Job Summary

The Avionics/Electrical Technician will work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer to prove-out all aspects of manufacturing the Avionics/Electrical system. This includes, but not limited to assessing the design and subsequent processes with respect to tooling, fixtures, line-side layouts, manufacturability, quality, and efficiency.

Essential Functions

  • Work on preparing initial layouts production.
  • Use previous experience to set up production processes while keeping in mind safety, ergonomics, quality, and efficiency.
  • Work through building the avionics/electrical system and break the build into manageable, clearly defined steps.
  • Generate process documents highlighting details required for building the avionics/electrical system.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineer to trial jigs and fixtures.
  • Able to follow established documentation and tracking practices.
  • Train the avionics/electrical production associates.
  • Ensure the avionics/electrical build area has sufficient materials in stock, specifically consumables.
  • Provide insight and advice on what could be done at a floor level to improve the efficiency, safety, quality, and ergonomics of the avionics/electrical build area.
  • Use industry experience to improve tooling and processes where applicable.
  • Provide insight to engineering on changes that could potentially be made to increase the quality of the parts, decrease processing time, or reduce cost when applicable.
  • Help drive design for easy manufacturability.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, secondary degree beneficial.
  • Experience (Years): 5+ years experience in manufacturing or assembly.
  • Experience (Technical): Experience in automotive or aerospace manufacturing/assembly a plus.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, knowledge of CAD is a plus.
  • Travel: less than 10%
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized green card holder

Additional Information

  • Good understanding of general production targets for safety, quality, efficiency, and cost.
  • Understanding of series production for automotive or aerospace.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical topics succinctly.
  • Understanding importance of ergonomics.
  • Ability to be given tasks and can work independently and/or in groups to meet milestones.
